Make the books worth more!
Right now, completing a book will give you 2,500 reputation points. So basically, completing 18 dungeons or 16 mission-like quests is worth 2,500 exp each? That's a little cheap. I think 5,000 should be given for the hero's handbook, maybe 10,000 for the dungeons, or 7,500. The current values are just too low, doing a huge amount of work like that should get you a decent reward.
Edit: Why this matters:
See, right now the R5 requirement for armor is controversial. Some argue that it should require effort to max armor, others argue that grinding random monsters is boring and not guild wars. If this was implemented, there would be two reasonable ways to get armor:
1. Go around killing things (current way, still more profitable)
2. Beat the story a few times and clear the dungeons (not as profitable, but not grind)
If anything, 2 would require more work then just running around killing things, and give less profit. However, it would give a reasonable alternative to grinding for titles, making everybody happy.

I love doing the dungeons but when Reagar's crazy cloning lab gives you 3000 points for it alone it doesn't quite make sense for the book to only give you 2500 points towards rep.

So, when I complete now my Story and my Dungeon Book and give them to the npcs for them, i get only 2500 Rep Points per book ?
To all races or only to the one race, that I give the book to?
When this is really all, then I'm disappointed from Anet, being so uncreative to give us players not something better for doing all the stuff, then only reputation ...
--------
I hope really, Anet will implement in future a lot more of those books, they are an interesting new (old) feature, which can be used for very much different things.
I want to see for example a Bestiary-Book ^^

So, your next suggestion will be so ectos drop in full stack since going in UW for just 1 is not interesting?

You get 2,500 reputation with ONE race for the book, then you get another and are able to fill it out again. Quite a rip-off...

It's missing a 0 at the end to make it worth it. Even then you need 8 books to fill up all 200,000, probably 5-6 including other stuff, and then the same thing for the other 3 races...

Now imagine how silly I feel for completing the main story line without having those books.
I think my inventory was full at the time and I only got arround to getting them now.
The Heroe's handbook apparently kept track of some things and is about half full.
The Dungeons Masters handbook is empty except for the last one.
Maybe the main story line dungeons like Golem etc didn't count ?
I'll have to do play some more to fill them :-) .
Anyway /singed the reward is a bit small imo.
There's bound to be some rewarding dungeon that give more points/time and people will just do the same one over and over again.
There's also bound to be one dungeon/mission you struggle with more than others and having to complete that one to get this little reward is going to annoy people.

/Signed...i agree it should be worth 5k to 10k for all the work you have to put in (especially for us people that dont get to play day of the week).
Peace,

The farmers could still farm, and those who took the time to go through all 18 dungeons and the whole story could get something worthwhile for their work.
It takes time to go through all the dungeons and the whole storyline, so doing them all 2-3 times would be enough to not get too tedious or repetitive. It would prove that Anet truly doesn't want this to be just an OCD grindfest. 7500-10k would be a good rate per book.
Yeah, I'm sure some will argue against it, saying how you should have to "work" for it. Like being a grind monkey is hard work. Pop in. Kill stuff. Pop out. Pop in. Kill stuff. Pop out. Pop in.....
Well, don't worry, monkeys. Anet will never in a million years do this. Tossers.

Books should be a reward for helping friends.
Currently, players would usually never make the quests again. They give almost no rewards by themselves, and the 2,500 seem just a bad joke more than anything.
It's like: "Hey, you ran the Marathon! Here, take a cookie".
Since you can get 1000..2000 points (depending on luck with bonuses and area) in less than one hour by clearing areas, since it takes around 5..7 hours to fill a book, hero handbooks should give 5,000...10,000 points.
And Dungeon Guides should reward with 10,000..20,000 points.

/signed for the dungeon book only. just because i like to go in there with hench and heroes so i can do the entire dungeon experience by myself without going online and cheating and looking at where to go or do it with people that have done it already and know exactly what to bring.
not always do heroes and hench exactly perform well, which kinda made me sad when i found out i only would get 2.5k rep for it, after i worked so hard to finish because 60dp was my friend the whole time thru the dungeons first time thru lol i really was expecting 5k for the dungeon book, since most of the dungeons are way worse to try to handle than the quests. even if everyone knows what they are doing after they've done it once, still the big rewards +5k dungeon book seems greatly pleasing for good teamwork and/or strategy.
i say if we all have the patience to go back and do these dungeons just for a 5k rep reward in the end, that would be WELL worth my time and i actually would do it. currently i don't, as 2.5k keeps me far away from those 60dp moments xD gotta love hench/hero teams that are not built for the occasion.
but for the quest book, 2.5k seems reasonable.
/not signed for the quest book. those are easy quests, just time consuming

2.5k per book barely give me boost up to r4... Also, the rep you get in the dungeon is only deldrimor rep (wtf?). Which means even if I play dungeons I'd still have to kill mobs in Charr Homelands to get r5 Vanguard....
